Brian and I just found out we are being forced to move. Yes, in the middle of the pandemic. The owner of the house has decided she wants to sell. Because we’re renting a single-family home, we’re unfortunately not protected by the eviction moratorium.

On its own, moving sucks. But this is worse for us, as it has a tremendous impact on both features, The Gateway House and Bringer of Death. The reason we were able to keep the budget so low on Gateway was because our primary location (97% of the film) was the house Brian and I were renting… and thus, free. It’s incredibly unlikely that we’ll be able to find another place to move that would work for the film AND that we could afford. Which means we’ll now have to rent a location, increasing the budget significantly. And that means we’re gonna have to find a bunch more money. So if you know of anyone…

What’s even worse is the timing. With vaccines becoming more available and moving into the warmer summer months, Brian and I had just started talking about getting Gateway back on its feet later this summer. Sadly, that’s not an option anymore.

While far less disastrous, Bringer of Death is going to be impacted too. There are pickups that I know we need to get, and I’m sure some that I’m not aware of yet. But now our timeline is ramped up, because we’ll obviously have to shoot those before we move. Fingers crossed we don’t miss anything significant.
